"Teaching patients how to take care of themselves is
our primary objective. The word physician means educator. We are happy to
spend extra time with our patients to make sure they are clear about what
their health problems are and what they need to do, not only to reduce their
symptoms, but to prevent the causes of their problems from occurring in the
future"
-Dr. Schillinger
Our commitment to educating our patients so that they
can learn about how to take better care of themselves is revealed in a variety
of ways. First and foremost, every office visit encourages our patients to
ask the doctors any questions they have regarding their care. Our popular
weekly Foundations for Vital Living
Presentations are always free and open to our patients and the public
Additionally, all of our physicians have written articles that help our patients
understand their conditions better.
It is our daily mission to impress upon our patients
that most health problems result from bad
habits that, once changed, almost always result in a quick improvement
in health. Learning to manage stress and improving
diet are the foundations for good health and will assist any patient
in feeling better. We encourage our patients from the first visit in our
office to begin stretching and exercising
safely so that they can return to their favorite sports. Since we have
treated thousands of patients involved in work
related and automobile related injuries,
we emphasize the importance of the right types of care to prevent problems
in the future .
Of Course we are always willing to answer questions about our services.
If you can not find the answers within our articles or in our Frequently
Asked Questions section, that please feel free to contact us via the telephone

Frequently Asked Questions about Chiropractic Care...
Can Chiropractic cure arthritis?
Once you have calcium deposits (spurs) growing on your
bones, they cannot be reversed. However chiropractic manipulation, combined
with the right kind of exercise can prevent arthritis. Most people mistakenly
assumed that they will get arthritis as they are getting older. This is absolutely
not true. Range of motion flexibility of the spinal joints as well as all
other articulations in the body is the key to prevent arthritis.
Does Chiropractic cure everything?
Obviously there is no therapy or treatment that can cure
every problem. Because every cell in your body is controlled by the nervous
system, people who have the highest possible quality of nerve flow will experience
greater vitality and health than those who do not. Spinal manipulation is
a simple, effective way to increase nerve flow.
Why do Chiropractors encourage patients to come back
even after they feel better from their care?
Prevention or maintenance care used to be considered
useless as the health-care system was focused on treating symptoms only. Chiropractors
as well as other alternative to medicine practitioners have always believed
it is wiser and cheaper to pay for your health than for your disease/illness
care. Therefore, chiropractors have always recommended occasional routine
visits to make sure there is no interference to the spinal nerve flow. Prevention
visits to chiropractors also are designed to support patients to maintain
exercise programs, good diet and emotional/spiritual health.
What is the popping sound of a Chiropractic adjustment?
Although there is no definitive scientific answer for
this, recent research revealed that the sound appears to be caused by gases
in the joints rushing in to fill a partial vacuum created when the joints
manipulated. The popping sound is not bones breaking or cartilage rubbing
off as some people erroneously believe. If patients are concerned about having
their joints "cracked ", there are chiropractic techniques that
do not involve any popping of the joints.
Why do medical doctors avoid referring patients to chiropractors?
There may have been a disregard by the medical community
about the scientific research on chiropractic. Now that chiropractic and medical
research teams have validated the importance of spinal manipulation, years
of alienation between the medical and chiropractic communities is ending.
There has been more communication than ever about the benefits of both styles
of health-care. It is the patient who benefits from open, quality relationships
between all caregivers so that we can combine our experience and knowledge
to better serve humanity.
Is Chiropractic safe for Children?
Almost all children love receiving gentle chiropractic
adjustments as their nervous system is by sensitive to respond quickly. They
often require little care to return to excellent health. Children should be
checked at least twice a year as they are actively engaging in feats of daring
as their routine! (have you considered how often toddlers and children fall?).
Early detection and treatment of spinal problems such as scoliosis is best
performed by a chiropractor.
Do senior citizens respond favorably to Chiropractic
care?
Senior citizens are often told that their conditions
are simply a result of aging, and are not given advice or strategies on how
to improve their health. The body has a remarkable ability to heal itself.
Spinal manipulation and routine exercise often help seniors regain their ability
to move without pain and return to activities that they love to do. They are
the most thankful patients that we have!
